Karim Benzema miss vs Croatia
In a bumper night of international action French striker Karim Benzema won the booby-prize for the worst miss of the night.
Les Bleus saw their six match winning streak come to a halt as Croatia kept them at bay, however the stalemate wasn’t helped by a series of failed opportunities to have the hosts break the deadlock.
Benzema’s miss came towards the end of the first half.
Jeremy Menez put a low cross into the box, which Croatian centre-half Dejan Lovren managed to get a toenail onto. That forced the ball to arrive just behind where Benzema was positioned on the edge of the six-yard box, however that afforded the Real Madrid only a wafer-thin excuse as he skewed his shot high, wide and handsome of the target.
The miss was only part of a difficult night for Benzema, who was forced off during the second half after picking up an injury.
